Applications for admission to Bachelor’s degree programmes in Circular Engineering, Geoenergy Engineering and Responsible Consumption and Production, all taught in English are subject to a mandatory qualification exam.
The application process for a degree programme at Montanuniversität Leoben consists of two main steps: an online pre-registration for your chosen degree programme via the MUonline portal, and a personal enrolment appointment at the university’s Study Support Centre (SSC).
For both steps, you must observe the respective application and admission deadlines. Depending on the country in which your school leaving certificate or university degree was awarded, and your current place of residence, further steps may be required.

The minimum duration of a Bachelor’s degree programme at Montanuniversität Leoben is 7 semesters, with 1 semester set aside for the compulsory internship, which is worth 30 ECTS credits. The minimum duration of a Master’s degree programme is 4 semesters.
Montanuniversität Leoben places great emphasis on personal support right from the start.
To help you settle in to your new and exciting student life, you will be officially welcomed by the Rector’s Office and the Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH) at the welcome reception held for all first-year students. There, you will receive important information to ensure a successful start to your studies at MUL.
In addition, first-semester Bachelor students are initially supported by tutors, who are higher-semester students, and can use this tutoring scheme to socialise with other first-year students through joint activities and at various events in and around Leoben organised as part of this tutorial project.
